Man I don't know if I'm joining just because I like most of the musical genres this place is about, or the horrible misspelling of Dizzy's last name in the interests. It's Gillespie man, GILLESPIE. I really shouldn't care about that, but I think that spelling his name correctly might be a little respectful. Dude was a great man.
Anyways, my name is Chris Kepley I play trumpet, listen to jazz, reggae, ska, rap, metal, rock, some country, just about anything, except pop. Also, I don't quite enjoy the combination of ska and punk. I rather despise it actually, with some exceptions (MU330). As for the combination of jazz and rap, that shit is tight as hell. Just over the weekend at a highschool jazz festival thing, my friend's combo played a cover of the Roots song Quills. Unfortunately their interpretation of it wasn't all too good, but hey, they tried.
Sorry for the outburst at the beginning of my post.
Peace.

I saw MU330 last night at Ska is Dead. Every time I see them, I seem to like them more.

Indeed, thank you for the correction.

I love The Roots, I saw them open for Dave Matthews once.

Do you like Jurassic 5 as well? Not quite as fun from a musician's standpoint because there are... well.. no musicians. But their two DJ's are heavy on the jazz influence, ya know.

I haven't heard MU330 yet... what are they similar to?

I've never heard MU330 either. I'll have to look into them.
